In a meeting in Tehran on Tuesday, Mohammad Reza Aref and Oman’s ambassador to Iran discussed ways to expand bilateral relations.
Aref stressed the long-standing and friendly relations between the two countries, pointing to their deep historical and cultural ties. He said relations between Tehran and Muscat have always been shaped on the basis of mutual trust and cooperation.
Expressing appreciation for Oman’s positions on regional issues, the vice president emphasized the need to expand bilateral cooperation in various fields, particularly in science and advanced technologies. He voiced hope that the current level of economic relations, estimated at around $2.5 billion, would increase to $5 billion.
For his part, the Omani ambassador underlined his country’s firm will to expand relations with Iran, saying the Sultan of Oman has instructed that no obstacles should stand in the way of developing bilateral cooperation.
The envoy also pointed to the broad potential for expanding trade, economic, and financial relations between the two countries and called for enhanced cooperation, including in the field of renewable energy.
The ambassador also referred to the consistency of Muscat’s positions toward Tehran, noting that Oman supports Iran’s approach aimed at promoting regional peace and stability and is ready to cooperate in this regard.
