Iran Expects Russian Support Against Aggression

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Tehran expects Russia to utilize its international capacities to support the rights of the Iranian people against the US and Israeli military aggression, President Masoud Pezeshkian said.

In a telephone conversation on Friday night, President Pezeshkian and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin discussed the latest regional developments following the war of aggression imposed by the US and the Israeli regime against Iran.

Pezeshkian described the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei as an act contrary to all legal norms and international regulations. He emphasized that oppressors aim to impose their will upon nations through blind and desperate acts of power.

However, he added, the massive and heroic presence of the Iranian people in support of their system and country has proven that such aggressions only strengthen the nation's resolve to defend its sovereignty.

Pezeshkian underscored that Iran expects Russia to utilize its international capacities to support the rightful rights of the Iranian people against these aggressions.

He noted that diplomatic consultations with regional countries have clarified that targeting US military bases is solely a defensive measure aimed at safeguarding Iran and its people.

Recent attacks by the US and the Israeli regime have reaffirmed Tehran's position that regional security can only be ensured by the countries in the region, while the presence of foreign forces is a primary cause of insecurity, the president added.

Pezeshkian firmly rejected claims regarding an attack on Azerbaijan Republic, characterizing these rumors as plots by enemies aimed at undermining brotherly relations among neighboring countries.

He stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran has never intended to attack its neighbors and will not do so; rather, its path is one of robust defense of territorial integrity and sustainable peace.

Expressing gratitude for the concern shown by the Russian government and people during these critical times, Pezeshkian expressed hope that independent countries and international organizations would collaborate to compel oppressive governments to adhere to laws and respect the rights of nations.

For his part, Vladimir Putin extended his condolences for the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei and expressed deep sympathy for the Iranian government and people. He highlighted his ongoing communications with leaders of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council member states, emphasizing the necessity of regional stability.

The two presidents also agreed that coordination between Tehran and Moscow would continue vigorously through various diplomatic and security channels.
